Who is Kevin Oeser?
Kevin Oeser is a screenwriter, director, editor, and playwright. A graduate of the USC School of Cinematic Arts, his short films have played at dozens of festivals around the world and been celebrated online by sites like Funny or Die, Vimeo, and Reddit. His feature script Terrible Parents was produced in audio format by the Black List Table Reads podcast and quickly became a fan favorite. Kevin is currently a staff writer for the animated comedy series Paranormal Action Squad, coming December 2016 on YouTube Red. These efforts and more led to Kevin being named to the Tracking Board's 2015 Young and Hungry list of top up-and-coming writers in Hollywood.
For the stage, Kevin wrote and directed The Milford Project, a musical comedy that was named Best of the Hollywood Fringe in 2011. He's also studied improv and sketch comedy at the Upright Citizens Brigade theater for many years.
Kevin is well-known in the comedy world as a film editor. He cut Comedy Central’s hit show Another Period and the groundbreaking Garfunkel and Oates for IFC. He also edited the Sundance hit Hell Baby and some of Funny or Die’s most popular videos.
Kevin is constantly developing feature film and television projects. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife and insecurities.
You wouldn’t know it to look at him, but Kevin went to the California state finals of the national spelling bee when he was fourteen years old. He lost in the third round on “solfatara.” To date he thinks it’s a bullshit word but he sure as heck knows how to spell it. To be clear, Kevin is not over this. Indeed, he credits the loss with his obsession with words— he wrote his first screenplay that same year. That screenplay lives today in a top-secret file folder and it is, without hyperbole, the worst piece of garbage in the history of the universe.
